A rare pale green glazed faience amulet in the form of a seated sphinx.

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 730-332BC

Intact with light surface wear

Size: 3.5 x 1.8 cms, 5 cms including stand

Ex. Collection: Gustave Mustaki, Alexandria, Egypt; acquired mid 20th Century and exported under license of the Egyptian government.

Mustaki was a prolific antiquities collector, pieces from his collection are held by several major museums including the British Museum and Getty Museum.

The items being offered by Helios Gallery have remained in the Mustaki family and are being sold for the first time since their acquisition in Egypt.
